El Salvador DMA Overview

Fatal landslides in Berlin in Usulutan prompted the Salvadoran Association of Engineers and Architects to donate their skills to design a slope stabilization project. The geothermal electricity production company, La Geo, also donated funds to assist in the purchase of land to relocate 70 families from the affected areas out of harm's way;

The mining company Pacific Rim and its employees actively supported community emergency preparedness training, community emergency plan development and practice drills for five communities in Sensuntepeque; and

The electricity production and distribution company AES facilitated an exemplary training opportunity for 28 corporate volunteers nationwide to become proficient in the Logistics Support System (LSS/SUMA) software. These employees are able to assist the Civil Protection authorities in using this free tool to communicate details about the needs and relief efforts in the event of a disaster.
